Why Sports Tech?
Sports and technology are converging faster than ever. From fantasy platforms to athlete branding tools, there's a massive opportunity to build products that serve athletes, fans, and organizations.
That's what drove me to build projects like Pregame World Cup, Sports City, and Athlete Domains.
Building for Athletes
One of my favorite projects is Athlete Domains — a platform that helps athletes claim and customize their personal brand online. The idea is simple: every athlete deserves a professional web presence, and it shouldn't require a developer to set one up.
The tech stack is straightforward:
- Next.js for server-rendered pages and SEO
- Tailwind CSS for rapid, responsive styling
- TypeScript for type safety across the codebase
Real-Time Sports Data
Working on Sports Trader taught me a lot about handling real-time data streams. When you're dealing with live sports stats and player valuations, performance matters. Some lessons learned:
- WebSocket connections for live updates instead of polling
- Optimistic UI updates to keep the interface responsive
- Data normalization to handle inconsistent API responses
The HySports Vision
HySports is where everything comes together — a platform combining sports tech with the HYTOPIA gaming ecosystem. The website showcases what's possible when you blend sports culture with interactive technology.
What I've Learned
Building in sports tech has reinforced something I believe deeply: the best products solve real problems for real people. Athletes need branding tools. Fans want engaging prediction platforms. Teams need data-driven insights.
If you're thinking about building in sports tech, start with a problem you personally understand and ship the simplest solution first.
